Granite screenings, also known as crushed granite fines, granite dust, granite stone dust, or compactable granite fines, are a finely crushed aggregate typically consisting of particles approximately 3/8 inch and smaller. The blend of small angular granite chips and fine particles allows the material to spread evenly and compact into a smooth, firm, and stable surface.
The fractured granite particles interlock tightly under pressure, helping create a dependable leveling or finishing layer beneath pavers, patios, walkways, and other hardscape surfaces. Granite’s natural hardness and resistance to wear also provide long-term durability in areas exposed to foot traffic, weather, and regular outdoor use.
Granite screenings are popular for hardscape preparation and precision grading because they combine easy workability, strong compaction, and a clean natural finish. They can be used to fill small voids, tighten larger aggregate layers, and create compacted pathway surfaces with controlled drainage and reliable surface stability.
