INDOT #8 slag, also known as #8 steel slag, INDOT slag aggregate, or specification-grade slag stone, is a clean, angular aggregate produced from processed steel slag to meet applicable Indiana Department of Transportation requirements. It is commonly sized around 3/8 inch to 1/2 inch, although exact gradation may vary by approved source and project specification.
Its hard, fractured particles provide excellent durability, strong interlock, and dependable resistance to wear. Because the material contains little to no fines, water can move efficiently through the aggregate while the angular pieces remain stable under light traffic, construction activity, and changing site conditions.
INDOT #8 slag is widely used in roadway, commercial, industrial, and municipal construction because it combines consistent gradation with the strength and density of processed steel slag. Its smaller particle size makes it easy to place around pipes, pavement layers, trenches, and narrow work areas where reliable drainage and long-term performance are important.
Sold as bulk material and delivered loose by dump truck. Typically dumped in a driveway, parking area, or another safe, accessible drop zone.
