#12 limestone chips, also known as #12 stone, limestone screenings chips, small limestone chips, or fine crushed limestone, are a clean, angular aggregate commonly used for asphalt production, driveway resurfacing, landscaping, and decorative finishing applications. The material is typically around 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch in size, although exact gradation may vary by quarry and local specification.
Under common #12 gradation standards, the stone passes through a smaller sieve than #8 or #57 limestone while remaining larger and more uniform than limestone screenings or stone dust. Its small particle size allows the material to spread evenly, fill minor surface irregularities, and create a smoother finished appearance than larger crushed stone.
Because #12 limestone chips are angular, the particles settle together more securely than rounded pea gravel and provide a stable surface when properly installed. The material is generally clean and contains fewer fines than crusher run, allowing some water movement while still offering better surface coverage and compaction than larger drainage stone.
