Limestone 2"–3", also known as 2x3 limestone, large crushed limestone, coarse limestone aggregate, or stabilization stone, is a heavy-duty angular rock typically measuring approximately 2 to 3 inches. Its substantial size and fractured shape provide dependable load support, drainage, and resistance to movement in demanding construction and site-development applications.
The open spaces between the larger stones allow water to move freely through the material, while the angular edges help the rock interlock and remain stable under equipment traffic, runoff, and changing ground conditions. This makes 2"–3" limestone especially effective in wet, soft, or erosion-prone areas where smaller aggregate may sink, shift, or become displaced.
Limestone 2"–3" is commonly used as a deep stabilization layer beneath roads, construction entrances, equipment areas, and structural fill. It also performs well in drainage channels, culvert zones, slopes, and other high-impact areas that require long-term strength and water flow.
