Granite Aggregate Base, commonly known as GAB, granite crusher run, graded aggregate base, or compactable granite base, is a dense blend of crushed granite, smaller stone, stone dust, and fines designed for strong compaction and long-term structural support. It is commonly produced as 1-inch-minus material, meaning the blend contains particles ranging from approximately 1 inch down to fine granite dust.
The larger granite particles provide load-bearing strength, while the smaller stone and fines fill the spaces between the aggregate and help the material lock together under pressure. When properly placed, graded, moistened, and mechanically compacted, Granite Aggregate Base forms a firm, level foundation that resists shifting, rutting, and settlement under traffic and structural loads.
Granite GAB is widely used in residential, commercial, roadway, and site-development projects because it combines dependable compaction with the natural hardness and durability of granite. It performs especially well beneath asphalt, concrete, gravel surfaces, driveways, parking areas, and building pads where a strong, accurately graded base is required.
Common Applications of Granite Aggregate Base (GAB)
- Driveway and access-road base construction
- Road base and sub-base preparation
- Parking lots and high-traffic areas
- Base beneath asphalt or concrete pavement
- Building pads and foundation preparation
- Walkways and compacted paths
- Construction entrances and equipment areas
- Site grading and stabilization projects
