#57 granite, also known as 3/4-inch granite, #57 stone, crushed granite, or clean granite drainage stone, is a clean, angular aggregate commonly used for driveways, drainage, concrete, backfill, landscaping, and general construction. Produced at granite quarries and aggregate plants, #57 granite is crushed and screened to remove most stone dust and fine particles, and may also be washed depending on the source and specification. The limited amount of fines leaves open spaces between the stones, allowing water to move freely through the installed layer.
Its fractured, angular shape helps the aggregate settle together and resist movement more effectively than smooth, rounded gravel. Although #57 granite does not compact into a dense, sealed surface, it provides a stable layer capable of supporting vehicle traffic, equipment, concrete, pipes, retaining walls, and other construction features while maintaining drainage.
