Granite #9

#9 granite, also known as #9 stone, small crushed granite, fine granite chips, or granite surface stone, is a clean, angular aggregate commonly used for leveling, paving, drainage, and surface-finishing projects. It typically ranges from approximately 1/8 inch to 3/8 inch, although exact sizing and sieve gradation may vary by quarry, state, and local specification. Some regional gradations may include a limited amount of stone up to approximately 1/2 inch.

Its relatively small particle size allows the material to spread evenly and settle into a smooth, firm layer. The angular granite pieces interlock more effectively than rounded gravel, helping the stone resist movement while maintaining open spaces for water flow.

#9 granite is popular because it provides a finer, more comfortable finished surface than larger aggregates such as #57 granite while offering the hardness, durability, and wear resistance associated with crushed granite. It works especially well as a thin leveling or finishing layer over a properly prepared and compacted base.
