#73 slag, also known as #73 steel slag, graded slag aggregate, or processed steel slag, is a durable, angular material typically ranging from approximately 1/2 inch to 1 inch. Produced from processed steelmaking slag, it provides excellent strength, surface stability, and load-bearing performance for demanding construction and site-development projects.
Its rough, fractured particles interlock under pressure more effectively than rounded gravel, helping the material resist movement beneath traffic and equipment loads. The graded stone structure also leaves space for water movement, providing a dependable balance of structural support and drainage.
#73 slag is popular for projects that require a tough, long-lasting aggregate with greater durability than many conventional stone products. It performs well in roadway construction, structural fill, drainage layers, and aggregate blends where resistance to wear, shifting, and material breakdown is important.
