Pit Run sand

Pit run sand is an economical, unprocessed construction material excavated directly from natural deposits. It typically contains a broad mixture of sand, gravel, clay, and small stone, creating a varied gradation that is well suited for bulk filling, rough grading, terrain buildup, and early-stage site development.

In road and driveway construction, pit run sand can be used as an initial sub-base or bulk fill layer beneath crusher run, dense-grade aggregate, asphalt, or concrete. The upper processed layers provide the final structural and surface performance, while the pit run material helps establish the required elevation and general site profile.

It is also commonly used around utility projects, building pads, embankments, agricultural properties, and large-scale land improvements. Its workable composition allows it to be spread with standard earthmoving equipment and shaped to follow the intended grade.

Pit run sand provides a cost-effective alternative to highly processed sand products when appearance, precise gradation, or specialty performance is not required. Washed sand, concrete sand, or mason sand is generally selected for finished applications, while pit run sand delivers efficient volume for foundational site work.
